About Us

University of Little Scholars was created out of need for our family.  When we opened ULS in 2012 my husband and I were a newly married couple with small children.  We set out to find quality to care here in the Whitehaven area, unsuccessful in finding a center that met our needs we had to travel a great distance outside of our community.  That saddened me!  Thus, University of Little Scholars was born.  I wanted to offer parents a haven within their own community.  It was our goal to provide children with an environment that made them feel loved and safe.  We wanted to give our community, moms and dads just like myself, “the ultimate learning experience”.  So, as our center has grown from 3 children to 3 centers I am excited about providing an educational space that allows our scholars to learn through play and exploration but from the comforts of their own neighborhoods.

Owners

University of Little Scholars is owned by Bryan and Alexsia Williams. Both Bryan and Alexsia have an extensive background in education.  Alexsia earned a B.S. degree in integrative studies from University of Memphis. After graduation Alexsia began her career in education. Alexsia taught in Memphis City Schools for several years were she provided a classroom setting that allowed students to take ownership of their learning while maintaining MCS standards and producing some of the highest scoring students.

Bryan Williams, a business major, graduated from Alcorn State University with a MS. Bryan furthered his education at Union University were he obtained a MA in education. Bryan also went on to teach in Shelby County Schools were he spent the next 15 years as an educator, mentor, and football coach.

Together Bryan and Alexsia have three children, Leighla, Lauren, and Xavier, whom they love dearly.
